Compact and economical

The PÖTTINGER Hoffermenter is the ideal solution for smaller farms that wish to recycle organic waste sustainably whilst generating renewable energy. It enables the efficient digestion of manure and biogenic materials directly on the farm, thereby combining climate protection, the circular economy and economic benefits in a single compact system.

Use in agriculture

As with the standard digester, the Hoffermenter also focuses on a natural circular economy. Plant and animal waste is converted directly on the farm, in a closed-loop process, into renewable energy and high-quality raw compost.

The farm-based digester is particularly suitable for farms with around 30 horses or more and approximately 300 tonnes of manure per year. With a footprint of just around 250 m², including handling space, it offers a compact solution for decentralised processing directly on the farm.

Within around three weeks, the horse manure is converted into raw compost. At the same time, biogas is produced, which can be used, for example, for heating, electricity generation or – after appropriate processing – as bio-LNG for commercial vehicles.

The system also offers great potential in terms of energy: extrapolated, the residual materials from around six horses can cover the annual energy requirements of a four-person household, amounting to approximately 25,000 kWh.

In this way, the farm-based digester closes the material cycle directly on the farm: it combines renewable energy generation with high-quality compost production, keeps valuable nutrients in the cycle and, through humus formation and improved soil fertility, supports sustainable and independent farming.

Producing biogas and raw compost directly on the farm

Disposing of manure is a thing of the past: with the PÖTTINGER on-farm digester, organic material is converted into raw compost in just around 21 days. Subject to compliance with the relevant regional regulations, this can be applied directly as fertiliser to the farm’s own pasture and arable land.

At the same time, biogas is produced, which can be used as a renewable energy source. The energy generated supports the running of stables, buildings or other on-farm applications and helps to reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

Ideal for smaller annual volumes

The Hoffermenter is particularly suitable for farms looking for a cost-effective entry-level solution. Organic materials can be efficiently fermented even with an annual volume of around 500 tonnes. The Hoffermenter thus offers a compact alternative to standard fermenter systems and makes fermentation an attractive option even for smaller operations.
