The initial situation

Waste management companies coordinate numerous containers at various locations on a daily basis. In doing so, they need to identify which machine is ready for collection, which customer it is assigned to, and what transport arrangements need to be made.

If this information is communicated by telephone or email and then entered manually into the ERP system, it creates an administrative burden. falconic from PÖTTINGER connects the machines directly to the waste management company’s digital processes, thereby laying the foundation for automated collection orders.

The challenge

Particularly in rotational operations, the locations change regularly: once emptied, a compactor container is often placed at another customer’s premises. Different machine settings, fill level limits and contact persons may apply there.

To ensure that a collection can be arranged automatically, the fill level, location and responsibilities must therefore be reliably aligned. At the same time, the container should be utilised as fully as possible before the next transport takes place.

The solution

All PÖTTINGER machines can be fitted with falconic as standard ex-works. The in-house developed hardware and software recognises the installation site and automatically applies the settings stored for that location.

If a machine is moved to a different configured site, it adapts to that site’s requirements. Notifications are also tailored to the current location: fill level alerts, faults and other messages are sent to the relevant personnel. This simplifies container changes and reduces the need for manual adjustments.

Collect goods as and when needed; make better use of capacity

Level detection can be tailored to the material and local conditions. This allows the timing of the collection request to be chosen in such a way that the container’s capacity is utilised efficiently and there is sufficient lead time for transport.

This facilitates higher fill weights, avoids premature collections and improves the planning of emptying intervals.

Automatically linked to the transport order in the ERP system

If the machine reaches the specified reporting threshold, a collection or replacement order can be automatically created in the waste management company’s ERP system via falconic’s API interface.

The stored location and allocation data are available for this purpose – for example, the GLN for the unique identification of the installation site and the responsible transport operator. The integration is tailored to the order data required by the respective ERP system.

The order is thus immediately available in the familiar system for further scheduling. There is no need to manually transfer a fill level report into a transport order. This saves time and reduces data entry errors.

Proven in day-to-day use

Many PÖTTINGER customers are already making use of this option in their day-to-day work. It relieves their planning department of repetitive data-entry tasks, allowing them to focus more on route planning and specific requirements.

At the same time, container capacity is utilised more effectively. In this way, falconic reduces administrative workload whilst delivering more cost-effective transport logistics.
